Officials say anyone who wants to be tested can attend the testing event, even if they don’t have symptoms of COVID-19.
People are encouraged to pre-register for a specific time slot in advance. They can do that here or call 1-855-612-0677 for assistance. Free transportation is also available for area residents in need by calling 218-741-7380.
Officials note that people are allowed to drive up to the testing event without an appointment, but those who have not pre-registered may experience longer wait times or be directed to come back later.
Tests will be conducted in a drive-thru manner, so people being tested never have to leave their vehicle.
Officials say health care workers will swab people’s nose with a q-tip, then remove it and place it in a vial, which is then sent to a lab for testing. Results take 48-72 hours and will be communicated directly to the person who was tested.
The St. Louis County/Ely Public Works Facility is located at 2210 East Sheridan Street. The entrance is off of Hidden Valley Road.
