Founded Marin Indian Alliance: San Rafael Hero – San Rafael, CA Patch

SAN RAFAEL, CA — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who’s making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we’ve launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we’re working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

This submission comes from Sharon Skolnick-Bagnoli, who nominated her neighbor, Salina Sherlock of San Rafael.

Hero’s job: Other

If other, job: Retired. Founded Marin Indian Alliance.

Relationship to nominee: Marin Indian Alliance; neighbor

Reason for recognition: She has compassionate awareness of contemporary Native
Americans living in or around Marin County and has provided a monthly info/events
newsletter and gathering.

One thing to know: She is 90 years old, tiny and sharp, Muskogee Creek and Cherokee,
mends broken kachinas and weaves small baskets in the meticulous native California
tradition.

Thank you for all you do, Salina!
